The invention provides a grounding short-circuiting apparatus of an urban mass transit power supply system and a grounding short-circuit method thereof. The apparatus comprises at least one grounding mechanism and a control terminal. The grounding mechanism includes an electric transmission pair provided with a shifting fork linked with a transmission shaft, an electroscope rod cranking arm, and a ground rod cranking arm, wherein the electroscope rod cranking arm and the ground rod cranking arm that are arranged coaxially are driven by the shifting fork to make rotation and a rotation angel difference exits between the electroscope rod cranking arm and the ground rod. The grounding mechanism also contains a knife switch type electroscope device containing a self checking module and an electroscope module. Besides, the control terminal includes an information processing and control module, a communication module, and a case. A centralized control center consists of a centralized control center case, a PLC processing module, a communication module, a disk surface operation indication module, and an industrial computer human computer interaction module. According to the invention, the apparatus is integrated with the self checking module, the electroscope module and the grounding module; and the self checking and electroscope share a knife switch type contact. The installation becomes flexible; a phenomenon that equipment is transported because of difference maintenance or repairing positions can be avoided and connection with a ground wire is not required; and the electric operation automation degree is high. And an enough safety distance is formed between a primary high voltage side and an operation component.
