The invention provides a traffic conflict severity analysis method used for an interchange. The method comprises the following steps that 1) video data are acquired by a video acquisition device; 2) conflict vehicles are determined through large amount of video data; 3) the driving track graph of the conflict vehicles is drafted by video tracking software so that a vehicle driving track coordinate sequence and a speed sequence are obtained; 4) a relative position-time curve graph of the conflict vehicles is drafted, and collision time TTC of the two vehicles is calculated by utilizing a mathematical analysis method; 5) conflict classification is performed according to conflict vehicle moving directions; 6) sample examination is performed according to the conflict types; and 7) severity division values of different types of traffic conflicts are determined. A problem that TTC cannot be calculated due to the fact that the conflict point is difficult to determine on the interchange can be effectively processed. The relevance of the traffic conflict investigation result and the actual traffic accidents can be enhanced through definition of traffic conflict severity so that a great conflict classification basis can be provided for performing traffic safety evaluation of the interchange by applying the traffic conflict technology.
