The invention discloses a climbing type elevator installing device and an elevator installing method. The climbing type elevator installing device comprises a first installing frame, a second installing frame, an installing table, a first grabbing mechanism, a second grabbing mechanism, a telescopic mechanism and a control mechanism. The first installing frame is provided with the installing table. The first grabbing mechanism and the second grabbing mechanism are installed on the first installing frame and the second installing frame respectively. One end of the telescopic mechanism is connected with the first installing frame, and the other end of the telescopic mechanism is connected with the second installing frame. The control mechanism is electrically connected with the first grabbing mechanism, the second grabbing mechanism and the telescopic mechanism. The control mechanism is used for controlling the first grabbing mechanism and the second grabbing mechanism to perform the grabbing or loosening action. The control mechanism is also used for controlling the telescopic action of the telescopic mechanism. Compared with an elevator installing device in the prior art, the climbing type elevator installing device is simpler in structure and low in cost, and an elevator can be installed in a shaft conveniently.
