The invention discloses a ventilating structure of a vertical resistance brake for a locomotive. The ventilating structure comprises the resistance brake and a resistance-brake installing frame, wherein the resistance-brake installing frame is horizontally arranged; the resistance brake is vertically arranged at the top part of the resistance-brake installing frame, and is vertical to the axis of the resistance-brake installing frame; the top end of the resistance brake is connected with an uptake ventilator; the bottom part of the resistance-brake installing frame is provided with an air inlet corresponding to the resistance brake; one end of the resistance-brake installing frame is fixed on the side wall of the locomotive, and the end part is detachably provided with an air-intake louver; the other end of the resistance-brake installing frame is closed. The ventilating structure disclosed by the invention has the advantages that by side-wall air intake, so that the pressure difference of lower-part air intake can be reduced and the air-intake efficiency of the resistance brake is improved; by a top exhausting mode, the noise generated by the resistance brake is propagated upwards, so that the influence of the noise on the surrounding of the locomotive and a driver cab is favorably reduced.
