The invention provides a detection method and system based on floating car resident trip hot spot regions. The detection method comprises the conversion step and the analysis step executed by a server, wherein longitudes and latitudes are converted into plane distances, and then the analysis step is executed, the longitude and latitude data are summarized for conducting spatial clustering analysis, and therefore the resident trip hot spot regions are obtained. The detection method and system have the advantages that the accuracy of the resident trip hot spot region can be improved, the determination efficiency is improved, and convenience is provided for resident trip selection.
