Provided are a tire, for which the number of steps for printing on the tire surface and the cost are reduced, and a method for printing on the tire surface. The present tire and the tire printing method are characterized in that a printed area (5) formed by means of printing is provided on the outer surface of at least on one of the side sections (3), the printed area (5) has dark-colored sections (7) which have the black background color of the tire and a light-colored section (9) which has a different color than black and is arranged so as to surround the dark-colored sections (7), no paint is applied to the dark-colored sections (7), and the light-colored section (9) has a white layer (11) which is made of a white paint and is provided at least on the bottommost layer in contact with the outer surface (3a) of the side section.
