A hybrid vehicle drive device comprising: a differential mechanism, a first rotation machine and a second rotation machine that are connected to the differential mechanism; and an engine connected to a prescribed rotary element in the differential mechanism, via a clutch. When the engine is started from the clutch in a released state, the hybrid vehicle drive device executes first rotation machine and clutch torque control, until the rotation speed (Nc) of the prescribed rotary element reaches a target rotation speed (Nctgt). During torque control, torque command values (Tg, Tclt) for the first rotation machine and the clutch, respectively, have a difference torque within a prescribed range, said difference torque being between a torque (Tgeq) matching the torque command value (Tclt) for one, and the torque command value (Tg) for the other.
