A balance arm used for a tower crane comprises a balance arm frame body which is fixedly provided with a straight rail and a double-drum winch. The straight rail is loaded with a sliding counter weight body. Two ropes in the double-drum winch are connected with the two ends of the counter weight body through pulley sets respectively. Pulley supports in the pulley sets are fixedly connected with the frame body. A connecting plate is fixedly connected to the bottom of the counter weight body. An anti-disengaging plate is fixedly connected to the connecting plate. A protruding shoulder is arranged on the upper portion of the anti-falling plate and fixedly connected with a track or the frame body. The frame body or the counter weight body is provided with a distance detection sensor, a weighing sensor and a gyroscope. The two ends of the straight rail are provided with a limiting switch and a stopping baffle respectively. The length of the frame body is equal to or smaller than the length of a suspension arm in the tower crane and is larger than or equal to 1/2 of the length of the suspension arm. The counter weight body is a box trolley or a bracket. The bracket is fixedly provided with a plurality of ballasting plates. Plate bodies between the ballasting plates are provided with bosses and pits; the bosses and the pits are matched with each other; and wheels of the bracket or the box trolley are sliding wheels.
