The invention relates to a suspension handrail for an escalator, comprising a plurality of first connecting pieces arranged at the shed top, a support rod is fixed below any one of the first connecting pieces by being vertical to the shed top, second connecting pieces arranged at the bottom of the first connecting pieces, a grab rail is arranged between adjacent second connecting pieces, the grab rails are arranged right above the rubber belt of the escalator, a bumper block is arranged at the tail end of any one of the grab rails by being close to the second connecting pieces, a control device is embedded into each bumper block, and a plurality of rollers or balls are arranged in a glass wall below the rubber belt of the escalator; and a safety protection device is arranged on the combination of all the parts at two ends of the escalator. According to the invention, the suspension handrail is additionally arranged right above the escalator, so that in emergency situation or elevator accidents, safety can be guaranteed by enclasping the suspension handrail. The bumper block and buffering rubber are arranged, so that impact caused by collision between the human body and the handrail is effectively reduced. The control device is arranged, so that the escalator can be suddenly stopped in an emergency situation and alarm can be given.
