Provided is an automatic parachute cutting method for an unmanned aerial vehicle. A weight measuring device is installed on a main parachute rope of a parachute of the unmanned aerial vehicle. A weight detection sensor and a signal processor are arranged in the weight measuring device. The weight of the unmanned aerial vehicle is detected through the weight detection sensor in the descending process. A detecting signal is sent to the signal processor. The signal processor processes a received data signal and compares the data signal with a threshold set in the signal processor. When the measured value is far smaller than the set threshold, a landing signal is given. Meanwhile, an electric cutting device is installed on a parachute cutting device and internally provided with an electromagnetic valve. When the electromagnetic valve receives the landing signal, the electromagnetic valve is disconnected, and the parachute cutting device acts so that automatic parachute cutting can be completed; the error detection/error cutting probability and the missing detection/missing cutting probability of automatic parachute cutting are effectively reduced; and meanwhile, the electromagnetic valve and an electromagnet are arranged in the parachute cutting device, current of the electromagnet can be cut off by disconnecting the electromagnetic valve, and the manufacturing cost is greatly reduced.
