The invention discloses a connection structure for a main speed reducer and an axle housing of a heavy vehicle drive axle. The connection structure at least comprises the main speed reducer and the axle housing, wherein a plurality of first installation through holes for cooperating installation and detachment are formed in the edge of the main speed reducer, and the main speed reducer is connected with the axle housing through fixing bolts; second installation through holes are formed at positions corresponding to the first installation through holes of the main speed reducer, on the axle housing; at least one backing plate is further arranged in the axle housing; third installation through holes are also formed at positions corresponding to the second installation through holes, on the backing plate; the fixing bolts penetrate through the third installation through holes of the backing plate, the second installation through holes of the axle housing and the first installation through holes of the main speed reducer, and match with fixing nuts. When the drive axle has a too high load and the fixing bolts are broken, the whole backing plate can be detached from the axle housing, and use of the axle housing cannot be influenced, so that the maintenance difficulty of equipment after faults of the drive axle is reduced, and the use cost of the drive axle can also be greatly reduced.
