The invention discloses a non-electric shunting operation method for an electric urban rail vehicle group. An output changeover switch, a transformer, a converter and an output cable are arranged at the output end of a shunting locomotive diesel generating set; a receiving circuit of the urban rail vehicle group is provided with an input interface and an input changeover switch; the output cable is connected to the input interface of the urban rail vehicle group; the output changeover switch and the input changeover switch are arranged at non-electric shunting operation positions; power output by the shunting locomotive diesel generating set is fed into the urban rail vehicle group through the output changeover switch, the transformer, the converter, the output cable and the input changeover switch in sequence and serves as a power supply for running of the urban rail vehicle group. Under the condition of contactless grid power supply of the urban rail vehicle group, the power supply is obtained through a shunting locomotive, the self-running shunting operation of the vehicle group is realized, the frequent phenomena that the vehicle group cannot be dragged uphill and cannot be decelerated and braked downhill during the shunting operation of the vehicle group are eliminated, and a roadbed is free from damage caused by high axle load of a high-power shunting locomotive.
