This shock absorbing mechanism is provided with: a tubular member (23) that is configured in a manner so as to be able to incur an impact load applied via a load incurring member (3) in the axial direction, and that is configured in a manner able to deform in the axial direction as a result of the impact load; and a load absorbing member (25) that is housed in the tubular member (23), is configured in a manner so as to be crushed together with the tubular member (23) by means of the impact load, and by means of the release of the impact load, can expand from the crushed state in the direction of reversion by a set amount. A space into which a portion of the crushed load absorbing member (25) enters is formed at a pressing section (30) at a skeleton member (5) side that presses the load absorbing member (25) from the axial direction when an impact load is incurred.
