The invention discloses an overhead charging rail system of an energy storage type tramcar. The overhead charging rail system comprises a charging rail, end bended portions, a middle joint, a central anchor junction, electric connection portions, hanging devices and a card reader holder. The end bended portions, the charging rail, and the electric connection portions are connected in order, the two end bended portions are connected with the charging rail through the middle joint, and the end bended portions are provided with grounding rings. The card reader holder is fixedly connected between two hanging devices in the middle portion of the charging rail, and the central anchor junction is connected at the connection of the middle portion of the charging rail and the hanging devices. The electric connection portions are further mounted on the end bended portions, so the overhead charging rail system can be used for continuously supplying power to a vehicle-mounted energy storage type tramcar, the tramcar can normally run and smooth transitions can be achieved when the tramcar goes out of or comes into a station. At the same time, an arcing problem can be reduced when the tramcar goes out of or comes into a station, so the service life can be prolonged. Protection to the system and workers can be improved. The charging rail can freely telescope along the direction of a road, and a jam problem caused by length changes caused by thermal expansion can be avoided.
