This invention is provided with an imaging device (21) for forming an image of the direction of movement of a host vehicle, and an electronic control device (1), the electronic control device (1) being provided with: an image-processing region calculation unit for setting a predetermined region within the image formed by the imaging device (21), the predetermined region including a center portion and at least a portion of a feature object present on a road in the direction of movement of the host vehicle when the feature object is present, the predetermined region being set as an image-processing region, and the image-processing region calculation unit reducing the size of the image-processing region as the host vehicle approaches the feature object; and a feature object detector for detecting the feature object on the basis of the image information about the image-processing region. For example, the image-processing region calculation unit sets a region within a predetermined angle as the image-processing region, the predetermined angle being centered on the center portion.
