The invention discloses an automatic stopping system. According to the system, a stopping device is connected to the outer side face of a steering wheel rotary shaft in a sleeving mode, a vehicle speed sensor is used for measuring the vehicle speed of a vehicle, and a vehicle distance sensor is used for measuring the distance between the vehicle and an adjacent vehicle in front of the vehicle; the vehicle speed sensor is configured to be connected with a vehicle speed comparator, and when it is measured that the vehicle speed of the vehicle is larger than preset vehicle speed, the vehicle speed comparator outputs a first level; the vehicle distance sensor is configured to be connected with a vehicle distance comparator, and when it is measured that the vehicle distance between the vehicle and the adjacent vehicle in front of the vehicle is larger than the preset distance, the vehicle distance comparator outputs a second level; one end of a trigger switch is connected to the vehicle speed comparator and the vehicle distance comparator, and the other end of the trigger switch is connected to the stopping device; when the trigger switch receives the first level and the second level, the trigger switch is turned off, and the stopping device stops rotation of the steering wheel rotary shaft. The automatic stopping system automatically controls and stops misoperation of a steering wheel.
