The invention provides a road altitude information extraction method and system based on traffic track data. The method comprises the following steps: obtaining travelling data of a floating vehicle according to an acquisition cycle, wherein the travelling data comprises geographical location information and altitude information; dividing a road into a plurality of road sections in sequence to obtain road section sequence; obtaining a travelling data set corresponding to each road section; generating an association table of the road sections and the travelling data sets; obtaining the travelling data set corresponding to the road section according to the association table; extracting altitude and generating an altitude set; serving the altitudes in the altitude set as altitude samples and carrying out statistic analysis on the altitude samples to obtain mean altitude of the corresponding road section; and obtaining a mean altitude sequence comprising the mean altitude of each road section according to the road section sequence. The method and system realize dynamic acquisition of more accurate altitude value of each road section of the corresponding road, and provide important data support for traffic road planning, travelling path planning, road travelling energy saving and traffic safety management and the like.
