The invention relates to a method for the predictive determination of a parameter value of a surface (2) on which a vehicle (1) can drive and provision of the parameter value to at least one driver assistance system (100) in the vehicle by detecting a total surface (2, 2.1, B1, B2), which is provided to be driven on by the vehicle (1), wherein a partial region (2, 2.1, B1) within the total surface (2, 2.1, B1, B2) is determined, on which partial region the vehicle can actually drive, and furthermore the parameter value is determined exclusively for the partial region (2, 2.1, B1). The invention additionally relates to a control device (10) for performing the method.
