The invention provides an onboard battery. The onboard battery is provided with an accommodating shell having an upper accommodating part and a lower accommodating part disposed on the lower side of the upper accommodating part; a plurality of battery modules having battery cells and with at least one being accommodated by the upper accommodating part and the lower accommodating part; a connection piece connecting the upper accommodating part with the lower accommodating part. When a certain load is applied to the upper accommodating part, the load acts on the connection piece, so that the upper accommodating part is separated from the lower accommodating part and the upper accommodating part moves relative to the lower accommodating part. Therefore, when the certain load is exerted on the upper accommodating part due to vehicle collision, the upper accommodating part is separated from the lower accommodating part and moves. Besides, the load is not act on the lower accommodating part. In this way, load acting on the battery modules on the upper segment and the lower segment is reduced and smoke and fire caused by battery module damage and the like can be prevented.
