The invention discloses a traction rod, comprising a rod body and end parts at two ends. The cross section of the rod body is of a first drum type structure of which the distances from the inner wall to the centroid in all directions are roughly equal; the first drum type structure comprises a horizontal segment arranged vertically and a circular arc segment arranged transversely; a transition straight line segment and a transition circular arc segment are sequentially connected from the circular arc segment to the horizontal segment. According to the invention, the cross section of the existing rod body is improved to the first drum type structure from a rectangle, the first drum type structure is approximately a circle, and the distances from the inner wall to the centroid in all directions are roughly equal, which means that the flexibility of each point is approximately equal, so that the stability of the rod body in all directions is approximately equivalent. Therefore the size of the rod body in the transverse direction is decreased on the premise that the critical pressure of the rod body of the traction rod is guaranteed, the phenomenon of material waste in the prior art is overcome, and the weight of the rod body is greatly reduced. In addition, the invention also provides a traction buffer device employing the traction rod.
