The invention relates to a thorium fuel power system and method. The system comprises a thermal unit, a generating unit and a cooling unit, wherein the thermal unit comprises a boiler and a thermal generator; the boiler comprises a medium chamber and a fuel chamber; the thermal generator comprises thorium fuel and a laser; the thorium fuel is positioned into the fuel chamber; an opening hole is formed in the wall of the fuel chamber; the laser is arranged at the outer side of the chamber wall; laser transmitted by the laser can pass through the opening hole to heat the thorium fuel to generate heat energy; liquid medium is stored in the medium chamber; the medium chamber comprises a medium input end and a medium output end; the generating unit comprises a turbine and a generator; the turbine is communicated with the medium output end; the turbine is connected with the generator to drive the generator to generate; the cooling unit is arranged between the turbine and the medium input and communicated with the turbine and the medium input end. The system has the advantages of being small in cost, environmentally friendly, and convenient.
