The invention discloses a hybrid power drive device with a rear gear shifting clutch and a gear shifting control method thereof, and belongs to the field of automobile transmission. An existing hybrid power drive device can neither guarantee that an engine and a motor both have multiple gears for power transmission nor guarantee that no power interruption occurs in the gear shifting process. For solving the problems, by arranging the gear shifting clutch reasonably and utilizing assistance power of adjacent gears, no power interruption occurs in the gear shifting process of the drive device, and power performance and comfort performance are improved. In addition, because the rotation speed difference between a rear gear shifting clutch shell (12) and a gear shifting clutch friction plate (13) is small, the problem that the sliding friction loss is large in the gear shifting process is solved. Because the hybrid power drive device is simple in structure, the manufacturing cost is lowered.
