The invention provides a tug applying a wide flange design. The tug comprises a ship body, bow wide flanges, mid-ship wide flanges and stern wide flanges, wherein a fixed entirety is formed by the bow wide flanges, the mid-ship wide flanges, the stern wide flanges and outer plates at the two sides of the ship body, and outer plates of the bow wide flanges, the mid-ship wide flanges and the stern wide flanges are smoothly connected in a transition way. The tug has the significant advantages in the aspects of time cost, manual cost, fuel performance, airworthiness performance, safety performance and the like by adopting the design of the wide flanges; furthermore, about 7% of fuel oil can be saved through the full scale ship validation; meanwhile, the tug applying the wide flange design can be extensively applied to various tugs, thereby realizing the practical values of extensive popularization and application; in addition, a broad stern deck can be ensured by the wide flange design, the safer operation can be provided, and the tug can be sued for piling container goods, or recycling spilled oil, and can be used for overhauling offshore wind turbines and supporting the diving operation in shallow water areas at the same time.
