The invention provides a manufacturing method of shock absorption piece, thereby obtaining resin thickness distribution suitable for absorbing impact via vacuum forming or air pressing forming. An impact absorbing piece is distributed between a vehicle body component of an automobile and an inner-outer ornament of the surface side of the automobile. In this method, by changing laminating separation distance, lamination modeling is performed for a molding die, and the inner side faces of recessed die parts of protruding parts are formed into stair-shaped structures, so the upper the stairs on the side faces of the protruding parts are, the smaller the top ends of the protruding parts become. The recessed shaped recessed die part is arranged on a flat part, which is formed on a pedestal part, of the molding die. Then resin sheet materials which are heated and softened are guided on the molding die and via vacuum forming or air pressing forming, the side faces of the protruding parts are formed into stair-shaped structures, so the nearer to the top end of the protruding parts the resin is, the smaller the thickness of the resin becomes.
