The invention relates to a method for promoting a uniform driving style in which a longitudinal speed of a motor vehicle (11, 21, 302) and a curvature radius of a route section (13) lying ahead of the motor vehicle (11, 21, 302) are determined when the motor vehicle approaches the route section (13), wherein an expected lateral acceleration is determined from the curvature radius and the longitudinal speed as the route section (13) is driven through, and said lateral acceleration is compared with a permanently predefined lateral acceleration limiting value which can be predefined by the driver, and wherein in the event of the expected lateral acceleration being greater than at least one of the lateral acceleration limiting values, the longitudinal speed is lowered by means of an optical and/or acoustic and/or haptic request to the driver and/or by means of an autonomous braking intervention, until the expected lateral acceleration reaches the lower of the two lateral acceleration limiting values. The method is defined by the fact that in the event of the expected lateral acceleration being smaller than or equal to the lower of the two lateral acceleration limiting values the lowering of the longitudinal speed is reduced by decreasing the engine drag torque. The invention also relates to a corresponding system.
