The invention discloses a Hadoop-based centralized urban traffic monitoring system comprising a plurality of traffic monitoring devices used for monitoring the traffic of multiple crossroads needing to be monitored, a cloud storage platform used for storing information collected by the traffic monitoring devices, an upper monitoring computer arranged in a monitoring room of the traffic control department, and a plurality of handheld monitoring terminals carried by road traffic management personnel. The traffic monitoring devices and the cloud storage platform communicate in a wireless communication mode. The cloud storage platform is a distributed computing and processing server cluster which comprises a plurality of distributed computing and processing servers. The traffic monitoring devices and the distributed computing and processing servers communicate in a wireless communication mode. The Hadoop-based centralized urban traffic monitoring system of the invention has the advantages of simple circuit, reasonable design, convenient operation, and good use effect. By adopting the Hadoop-based centralized urban traffic monitoring system, the traffic flow and traffic operation condition of each crossroad needing to be monitored in an urban area can be conveniently, quickly and effectively monitored in real time.
