The invention relates to a dual-camera velocimeter comprising a speeding capture camera, an event detecting camera, a speed measuring portion and a circuit portion. The dual-camera velocimeter is characterized in that the circuit portion is composed of a first image processing circuit and a second image processing circuit; the first image processing circuit acquires in real time a video image of a monitored road through the speeding capture camera and capturing a vehicle breaking the law, according to a speed signal input by speed measuring radar; the second image processing circuit acquires in real time a video image of an area to be monitored through the event detecting camera and judging vehicle illegal events such as illegal parking, unlawful-direction driving and cargo dropping. speeding capturing and road video acquiring can be achieved through one speeding capture camera; the other one is used to monitor traffic events; thus, the whole dual-camera velocimeter has more complete functions, easily meets the increasingly complex traffic situations, has evident effects and is convenient to apply and popularize.
