The invention discloses a traction type pneumatic elevator. The traction type pneumatic elevator comprises a variable weight lift car, a variable weight balancer, an automatic balance device and a compressed air system. The variable weight lift car is connected with the variable weight balancer through the automatic balance device which maintains balance of the variable weight lift car and the variable weight balancer, the variable weight lift car is provided with a first liquid-gas exchange device, the variable weight balancer is provided with a second liquid-gas exchange device, the first liquid-gas exchange device is communicated with the second liquid-gas exchange device, and the first liquid-gas exchange device, the second liquid-gas exchange device and the automatic balance device are all connected with the compressed air system. The traction type pneumatic elevator has the advantages that the structure is simple, production cost is reduced, stable running is guaranteed during work, energy consumption is greatly reduced, and energy conservation and environment protection are achieved.
