The purpose of the invention is to provide an autonomous moving apparatus and an autonomous movement system with a configuration which prevents broken down autonomous moving apparatuses from moving unexpectedly during recovery. This autonomous moving apparatus is characterized by including a wheel locking section (116) for locking the wheels when stopped, a manipulable part (119) provided at a location where manipulation thereof is possible from outside the autonomous moving apparatus (1), and a wheel lock section (118) for releasing the wheel lock when the manipulable part (119) is manipulated on via external force. The autonomous moving apparatus is also characterized in that the wheel lock section (118) releases the wheel lock when force equal to or stronger than a predetermined value acts on the manipulable part (119), and maintains the wheel lock when the force acting on the manipulable part (119) is weaker than the predetermined value.
