The invention belongs to the field of cranes and provides a traction type bidirectional crane which can overcome defects of the traditional lifting cranes of large size, cumbersomeness and poor lifting stability. The traction type bidirectional crane includes a gear motor with a brake gear, a crane base, a drag cable and a traction wheel. A drag cable leading-in port and a drag cable leading-out port are arranged on the crane base. A conical drag cable groove is formed in the peripheral direction of the traction wheel, the drag cable is arranged in the drag cable groove, and a rope distributor used for leading the drag cable to move in the fixed direction is arranged on the crane base at the position where the drag cable leading-in port and the drag cable leading-out port are arranged. Two through holes for penetrating of the drag cable are formed in the rope distributor. A cable guide tongue for facilitating penetrating of the drag cable into the through holes of the rope distributor and a pressing device for movably pressing the drag cable in the drag cable groove are arranged on the rope distributor. Positioning guide wheel groups are arranged on the drag cable leading-in port and the drag cable leading-out port on the crane base. The traction type bidirectional crane has the advantages of being compact in structure, small in size, light in weight, big in lifting force, safe and reliable to use and applicable to lifting operations in various places.
