The invention discloses a manufacturing method of a cross beam of an automobile instrument panel, and belongs to the field of non-ferrous metals. The manufacturing method adopts the following ingredients and manufacturing steps that (1) the cross beam of the automobile instrument panel comprises the following ingredients: 7.5 to 9.0 percent of Al, 0.2 to 0.6 percent of Mn, 0.15 to 0.4 percent of Zn, 0.4 to 0.8 percent of Zr and the balance Mg; (2) the cross beam of the automobile instrument panel comprises the following manufacturing steps of a, casting the cross beam of the automobile instrument panel and b, finely processing the cross beam of the automobile instrument panel. The manufacturing method solves the problems that the comprehensive performances such as density, specific stiffness and specific strength of materials used for manufacturing the cross beam of the automobile instrument panel are low, and has the advantages that the method is simple, the cost is low, and the processing is easy.
