The invention relates to an ultra-thin air conditioning unit and an urban rail vehicle installed with the air conditioning unit. The air conditioning unit comprises a shell; an air supply outlet and an air return inlet are formed in the bottom wall of the shell; two refrigeration and heating systems are separately arranged in the shell; the refrigeration and heating systems are symmetrical; each refrigeration and heating system comprises two compressors, two condensers, two evaporators, two expansion valves, two evaporator fans, a condenser fan and two electric heaters; each refrigeration and heating system is equipped with a controller; and the controller is integrated in the shell. The ultra-thin air conditioning unit is compact in structure and reasonable in layout, mechanical and electrical integration design is adopted, the controller is integrated in the shell of the air conditioning unit, a separate air-conditioning control cabinet in the existing urban rail vehicle technology is omitted, and the space in the vehicle is saved.
