The invention relates to a vehicular anti-theft system and method. The system comprises an electric door lock and a working circuit for starting a vehicle, the working circuit is connected with a control circuit, the control circuit is composed of the electric door lock, a slide rheostat, a protective resistor, an electronic control unit and a voltage-constant micro power source in serial connection, and the electronic control unit is further serially connected in the working circuit; when the electric door lock is opened, the control circuit is connected, resistance of the slide rheostat is changed, predetermined current is generated in the control circuit, and the electronic control unit connects the working circuit by identifying a predetermined current signal; when the electric door lock is closed, the control circuit is disconnected, the resistance of the slide rheostat is recovered, the control circuit is enabled to be currentless, and the electronic control does not work to have the working circuit disconnected. The electronic control technology is applied to the vehicular anti-theft system and method, the traditional electric door lock and the slide rheostat are ingeniously combined, and safety in that an owner directly pulls off a key of the electric door lock for temporary parking is improved greatly.
