The invention provides a flame-retardant material for a safe airbag and a preparation method of the flame-retardant material. The preparation method comprises the following steps: respectively coating the surface layer and inner layer of a double-layer fabric bag with a metal layer; filling microfine silicon oxide aerogel between the surface layer and inner layer of the double-layer fabric bag; mixing phosphide, metal hydroxide, phosphate, titanium dioxide and thermoplastic resin in a solvent to obtain a mixed liquid, coating the surface layer of the double-layer fabric bag with the mixed liquid and drying to obtain the flame-retardant material for the safe airbag. By combining amphoteric oxide titanium dioxide, hydroxide and phosphate, the good flame retardant property of the material is ensured, the failure of the safe airbag caused by the damage due to an accident fire source in an electronic instrument is avoided and no halogen flame retardants are adopted, so that the environmental friendliness is achieved. On the other hand, microfine silicon oxide aerogel can act as the effect of a thermal-insulation layer for the flame-retardant material and can also act as the effect of a second flame-retardant layer under the condition that the peripheral flame-retardant coating is destroyed.
