The invention relates to a tripod robot. The tripod robot comprises a triangular top plate, a triangular control plate, U-shaped connecting pieces, a rotary motor, steering engines and a foot plate. The U-shaped connecting pieces comprises the first U-shaped connecting piece, the second U-shaped connecting piece, the third U-shaped connecting piece, the fourth U-shaped connecting piece and the fifth U-shaped connecting piece. The steering engines comprise three first steering engines, the second steering engine and the third steering engine. The three first steering engines are installed between the triangular top plate and the triangular control plate. The tripod robot has the advantages that the tripod robot performs corresponding operations on hip joints, knee joints and ankle joints through the triangular control plate, the robot can achieve the functions of walking, somersaulting and handstand by moving the barycenter of the robot, and therefore it is guaranteed that the robot freely passes through various pipelines under complicated environments to effectively detect and maintain the pipelines; accordingly, the service life of the pipelines is prolonged, and accidents like leakage can be prevented.
