The purpose of the present invention is to provide a cord obtained by twisting purified polysaccharide fibers produced by using a raw material with a low environmental impact as a result of carbon disulfide emissions being eliminated, said cord being capable of providing durability and resistance to external damage to a tire when used in a tire. The cord is obtained by bringing a polysaccharide solution, obtained by dissolving a raw polysaccharide material in a liquid containing an ionic liquid, into contact with a solidified liquid, and then twisting raw yarn, which consists of purified polysaccharide fibers obtained by spinning polysaccharides. The cord is characterized in that: the relationship between the tenacity (TB) (cN/dtex) of the raw yarn at 25 DEG C and the elongation at break (EB) (%) of the raw yarn satisfies formula (1) and formula (2); and, when the tenacity of the cord, which is produced by twisting the raw yarn, at 25 DEG C is denoted as CT (cN/dtex), the tenacity utilization rate (CT/TB) after twisting is at least 70%.
