The invention discloses an urban highway bus signal priority method. According to the method, real-time interaction between a bus and a signal control system is realized by use of an open interface at a control end of a networking signal control center; the bus arrival condition is detected in real time by virtue of an RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) detector distributed at a road junction, so that predication on waiting state of buses at the road junction and next-period bus arrival time is realized; in a current period, a phase locking/unlocking instruction is transmitted to the signal control system, so that a bus go-through green light time is dynamically prolonged; before the beginning of a next-period, whether to reserve a bus exclusive period or not is determined according to bus queuing and bus arrival condition predication. According to the method, upgrade reconstruction of a signaler at the road junction is not needed, and the implementation cost and risk is low; while real-time signal priority is supplied to buses, invalid use of the bus exclusive period is avoided under the condition that no bus arrives at the road junction, and negative influences of the bus signal priority on social vehicles are reduced.
