The invention discloses a damping device for jointing in a buffering process of an elevator. The damping device comprises a buffer plate, a cylinder, a damping piston, and a piston rod fixedly connected with the damping piston, wherein the piston rod is jointed with the buffer plate in the process that buffer springs of an elevator cage are compressed by the elevator cage through the buffer plate, and the damping piston damps the buffer plate; the buffer plate directly faces the bottom of the elevator cage. Damping is intervened in the compressed process of the buffer springs to form a progressive buffer damping way, a damping force gradually increases in the bottoming buffering process of the elevator cage and is quick and steady relative to ordinary springs in the increasing process, and in a final stage, buffer damping is formed to achieve downward buffering smoothness and an enough damping force, so that compared with the prior art, the damping device can increase the buffering stroke and prolong a progressive gradually-changing damping process; the damping device can use springs with smaller elastic coefficients, and through combination of later damping intervention and early elastic buffering, the damping device is applicable to a high-speed elevator.
