It is an object of the present invention to provide a device and a method for monitoring a suspension means in an elevator system that permit a reliable conclusion about various damage to the suspension means. Moreover, the device or the method is to be robust with respect to disruptive influences. To achieve this object, the invention provides an elevator system (40) comprising a suspension means (1) that includes a plurality of tension members (5) in a common jacket (6). The tension members (5) of the suspension means (1) are electrically interconnected in an electric circuit which comprises a current or voltage source (12) and a measuring device (13). The measuring device (13) is positioned between a first group of tension members and a second group of tension members.

    L'invention concerne une installation d'ascenseur (40) qui comprend un moyen de support (1), le moyen de support (1) comportant une pluralité de tirants (5) dans une gaine commune (6). Selon l'invention, les tirants (5) du moyen de support (1) sont reliés électriquement entre eux selon un circuit électrique, ce circuit électrique comporte une source de courant ou de tension (12) et un dispositif de mesure (13). Le dispositif de mesure (13) est disposé entre un premier groupe de tirants et un second groupe de tirants.
