A chassis(1) for a skateboard comprises a closed rectangular perimeter frame(2) defining a void(3). A pair of opposed square U-shaped open-faced channels(4,5), positioned mid-width of the frame(2), extend outwards from the frame(2). A central rib(6) extends across the frame((2) and bifurcates the channels(4,5). The frame(2) is subsequently over-moulded to encase the frame(2) with alaminated material. A deck(8) is over-moulded onto the frame(2). The materials for constructing the chassis(1) and deck(8) are selected for either their high tensile and compressive strengths or low dielectric loss enabling the load-bearing capability and flex of the skateboard to be independently distributed between the frame(2) and deck(8). Any particular individual chassis(1) with a given stiffness and flex can be used with any particular choice of deck(8) with a given stiffness and flex and, vice versa, any particular deck(8) can be used with any particular choice of chassis(1).
