A lift system (1) in which a lift car (10) is able to be moved in a controlled manner between floors (L1, L2) by a lift controller (13). A car call device (4) for entering a destination floor, connected in terms of communication to the lift controller (13), is arranged in the lift car (10). Lift operation devices (6), connected in terms of communication to the lift controller (13), are arranged on the floors (L1, L2) in order to enter a call. A lift operation device (6) has a touch-sensitive screen system (68) equipped with a substantially smooth touch surface (35), which screen system responds to a passenger (P) touching the touch surface (35) with haptically perceptible feedback. The lift controller (13) actuates a lift operation device (6) in a normal operating mode of the lift system (1) such that the screen system (68) displays at least one call symbol (23, 24, 26) on a user interface (34). In an abnormal operating mode of the lift system (1), the screen (68) is actuated such that an abnormal operation notification (36) is displayed on the user interface (34).
