A system and method for resisting an uncontrolled descent or uncontrolled flight condition of an aerial vehicle. The system includes a control system, sensors, an inflation device, and a descent-restraint system. The control system detects an uncontrolled condition using the sensors, and subsequently initiates the inflation device to inflate a deployment tube to extend an aerodynamic decelerator away from the aerial vehicle. The descent-restraint system includes a housing that stores the aerodynamic decelerator in a folded state and the deployment tube in an uninflated state prior to deployment. The aerodynamic decelerator and the deployment tube may be stored in a compressed-accordion or a rolled packing. The deployment tube is structured to attach a first end to the housing such that in response to inflation of the deployment tube, a second end of the deployment tube extends from the housing to deploy the aerodynamic decelerator away from the aerial vehicle.
