The present invention discloses a method for short-term traffic flow prediction based on spatiotemporal correlation. The method includes the following steps: selecting a road section requiring traffic flow prediction and a breakpoint on the road section, and acquiring historical short-term traffic flow data of all breakpoints on the selected road section; determining a prediction period for short-term traffic flow prediction; verifying whether historical traffic flow data of a predicted breakpoint is periodic; normalizing the traffic flow data by using a normalization method, and dividing a data set into a training data set and a test data set; using a SARIMA model to perform predictive analysis on the test data set to obtain an initial prediction result; using the prediction result as an input feature, and substituting the input feature into a random forest (RF) model to obtain a final prediction result; and comparing the test data set with final predicted data, and performing error analysis. According to the method in the present invention, the traffic flow data is divided into a periodic part with an obvious trend and a random fluctuation part for analysis. This improves the accuracy of traffic flow data prediction.
