A spare wheel mount including a base plate to be attached to a vehicle and a supporting bar extending from and attached to the base plate. A back plate is attached to the extended bar and includes bolts to engage and extend through a tyre rim. A front plate engages the bolts that are threaded and adapted to be engaged by nuts and firmly retain the tyre rim between the front and back plates. A U-shaped member extends from the back plate, through the rim and through a slit in the front plate and is of a size and shape to enable a padlock to engage the member and lock the front plate in position to the back plate.
