FROM time to time we are asked to advise as to the course to be followed by individuals desiring to fit themselves for positions in the aircraft industry. Inquirers are frequently vague as to what it is they really want to be, and we have first to satisfy ourselves whether they wish to take a University course with a view to seeking a position on the design staff of an aircraft firm, or whether they are anxious to become qualified as ground engineers. Giving advice to the former is usually comparatively easy, as there are University courses to suit various purses, and the S.B.A.C. scholarship system is designed to help applicants in obtaining a practical education by offering apprenticeships to a certain number of suitable youths.
