Prospects for future sales of Rolls-Royce RB 211 engines are enhanced by the Lockheed decision to propose new versions of the L-1011 TriStar airliner for service in the 1980s. Rolls-Royce has aready delivered RB 211 engines and spares worth nearly £430 million to power TriStars — over £400 million of this was export business.
