AT a time when Elliott-Automation's Airborne Display Division has received an order from Sweden for ‘head-up’ display systems—likely to run to some 800 sets eventually—for fitment to the Saab Viggen strike aircraft, when Elliott's head-up displays are currently being evacuated by French and German pilots at the French Government's Flight Test Centre at Bretigny, France, and when a substantial order for these systems has been placed by the Ministry of Aviation on behalf of R.A.F. Transport Command for application to the Short Belfast strategic freighter, it was perhaps appropriate that Elliott's should arrange a press visit to their Airborne Display Division to show details of the advanced forms of instrumentation upon which they are currently involved. The visit took the form of a tour of the Airborne Display Division facilities as well as a technical briefing from the senior engineers of the Division, about the latest forms of display being developed.
