THE ANNOUNCEMENT that the first of 200 Honeywell helmet sight systems have been delivered to the United States Navy means that visual Tracreact also becomes a reality. This system demonstrates the feasibility of a visual, real-time target acquisition and reporting system and provides guidelines for expanding the system for use at night and in degraded weather. For this the helmet sight is the primary sensor. Forward-looking infrared (FLIR) and moving target indicator (MTI) cueing sensors are used for day/night and degraded weather systems. The system provides near-real-time target reports to permit immediate command/control responses.
