Abstract Models of cometary nuclei are discussed in the light of new data of comet Halley from the 1986-Halley campaign. It is shown, which aspects of previous modeling survived, and which new results have been found, which have to be taken into account in actual modeling of cometary nuclei. A model for cometary activity and related crust formation is discussed, which seems to be able to integrate all the newly found aspects.
