Abstract The Nançay radioheliograph provides images of the sun on a north-south baseline at up to five frequencies between 150 and 450 MHz with time resolution up to 0.1 s. East-west images are also obtained at 164 MHz with a time resolution up to 0.02 s. This paper briefly presents the performances of the instrument and the observing modes. As an illustration preliminary results on noise storm continua and type III bursts are reported.
